Order of Planner and Landscape Architects – Agrigento, Italy

The aim of this group is to promote architecture on a set of ethical and aesthetic values ​​that contribute to improve human life. The Order was founded in 1979 by decree of the Ministry of Justice of the Italian Republic. It currently has over 1500 registered architects.

During the last 35 years, the Order has promoted its architectural culture in landscaping and urban planning through a series of initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens.

The new board of the Order, formed in September 2013 under the chairmanship of Arch. Massimiliano Trapani, has established a Department of International Affairs, led by Arch. Giuseppe La Greca, to promote abroad the Mediterranean architectural craft of Italian architects from Agrigento. The charter of the Department of International Affairs include the promotion of the following initiatives:

  • The organization of international architecture competitions
  • The placement of Italian teaching staff in professional development courses that relate to the world of architecture, design, restoration in foreign countries
  • The involvement of the Italian Foreign Ministry and its network of cultural institutes abroad in the promotion of contemporary Italian architecture with specific reference to its milieu of excellence that includes restoration, marine design, interior design, and supply planning
  • The involvement of the various associations in the supply chain – such as the Union of Chambers, the Confindustria employers association of builders (OICE), the Confindustria national association of builders (ANCE), investors and lenders – to help launch and support the Order in countries considered strategic for economic partnership, and cultural and political relations with Italy
  • The creation of an international organization, including Unesco and the World Bank, aimed at facilitating the financing of collaborative projects with sovereign states that have strategic value in addressing the needs of developing nations and regions that have been affected by war o natural disasters.

The foreseen areas of cooperation with participating countries include:

  • Implementation of bilateral agreements for the development of activities for participating professionals
  • Joint research and development joint activities in the fields of design and planning, project management and project financing
  • Design and implementation of projects overseas to foster co-operation and collaborative growth
  • Organization of joint events such as trade shows, exhibitions, round tables;
  • Participation in international tenders involving both countries;
  • Organisation of training and specialized courses and seminars;
  • Joint organization of design competitions
  • Transfer of scientific and technical experience and know-how
  • Exchange of technicians, professionals and researchers
  • Implementation of joint pilot projects.
